The Women's Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) announced a partnership with Kimes Ranch and CN Productions for the inaugural Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway roping event scheduled for November 27–30, 2024, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The collaboration introduces a WRWC Challenger Incentive offering tiered opportunities throughout qualifying rounds, the last chance qualifier, Semi-Finals, and an exclusive WRWC Challenger Showcase during the first round. This incentive adds $25,000 to this exclusive side pot.
WRWC Commissioner Linsay Rosser Sumpter stated the initiative aims to "elevate the women of rodeo and continue to even the playing field for the ladies of the sport."
Challengers compete for participation in the $10,000 Challenger Showcase held November 28, featuring ten advanced competitors. Qualifying pathways include Guthrie, Oklahoma rounds (October 18–20), a Scottsdale Last Chance Qualifier (November 27), or a Final Buyback Round (November 27).
The October qualifier rounds distribute $10,000 of added prize money, with top finishers advancing to Semi-Finals. The Last Chance Qualifier offers $5,000 of added money. Eligibility requires meeting Challenger status — under $10,000 annually and under $30,000 in lifetime earnings — purchasing a WRWC ID, and enrolling through the NextGen Rodeo App.
Since its 2020 launch, the WRWC has distributed over $3 million in new money to women's rodeo athletes.
