The story behind the premier breakaway roping event in the country.
The Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway is the richest breakaway roping in the world. Held at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona, the MDB brings together the top breakaway ropers from across the globe to compete for $1,000,000 in prize money.
The event welcomes all female breakaway ropers with no membership required. For 2026, all 20 finalists advance from the Semi-Finals and Qualifier Finals Performances. Athletes qualify through six live events — the First Chance Qualifier, Summer Qualifier, Fall Qualifier, Oklahoma's Richest, the Last Chance Qualifier, and the Buy Back Round — as well as the VRQ Leaderboard and PWR (Premier Women's Rodeo). A total of 211 competitors feed into the Semi-Finals, from which 17 advance to the Finals. The winners of the Summer, Fall, and Oklahoma's Richest Finals Performances earn automatic Finals berths, creating a 20-athlete Championship Finals field.
The inaugural 2024 event was nationally broadcast on FOX Sports and produced by Kimes Ranch Jeans and CN Productions. The Million Dollar Breakaway has quickly become the most prestigious event in breakaway roping, elevating the sport to unprecedented levels of professional competition.
The 20 finalists compete across 10 go-rounds of evening performances at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Go-round payouts total $825,000 with an additional $175,000 aggregate payout, for a total purse of $1,000,000. The High Money title is determined by cumulative earnings across all qualifier events and the Finals.
